Meldrum Salter Edgley Points the Way at First Guildford 7's Rugby Tournament
15 May 2012
Meldrum Salter Edgley continued their support of Guildford Rugby Club this weekend when the company provided signage for an important tournament hosted by the Club.
This was the inaugural Rugby 7's tournament which will be the first of a new annual series of events making the most of the newly enlarged club facilities located at Broadwater between Guildford and Godalming. Held in conjunction with Phantoms and Tsunami Sportswear, the day saw a busy schedule of exiting fast-paced sevens rugby with a most welcome respite in the recent rain providing sun and blue sky all day.
The standard of play was extremely high and Guildford's own sevens team did well to reach the final of the Plate but were narrowly beaten for the honour by Cry Crusaders. Winners of the Cup, Apache, received a prize of £1000.00 on the day with the Cup presented by Dr. D. J. Carroll KSG, past President of Surrey Rugby and Guildford.
The Commercial Director of Guildford RFC, John Hines, said, "This was a really fantastic event which made the most of the new facilities we have added in the last 12 months. We have every intention of making this a regular fixture and would like to expand the event next year to build on its success. We are grateful for the support provided by all the volunteers and companies' such as MSE who make events such as this possible."
